YZ Movie Review

YZ Movie Review

along with its title, is an out-of-the-box film. Its graph rises consistently and ends on a high note. The film is a complete package; great story, acting and direction plus good music. To sum it up, ‘YZ’ wreaks ‘havoc’ from the word go and missing it wouldn’t be a wise thing to do.Parna as the bubbly girl is convincing and so is Sai, who sheds her glam avatar for this film. In a small role too, Mukta drives the point home with her expressions.

The best thing about Sameer Vidwans’s YZ is that it’s consistently amusing. It’s not perfect and it’s certainly not very original, but it is smart, it has believable characters, and it avoids the usual traps of conventional storytelling. The cast and dialogues are the two strong elements. Sagar Deshmukh, well known for his theatre work, is the star here as Gajanan, along with Akshay Tanksale as Battees. The pre-intermission portion of YZ is loosely plotted and keeps us in the dark about the focus of the film. It’s largely because of the time spent on counseling of Gajanan by Battees. While it’s not boring owing to the crisp dialogues and performances, and is definitely relevant to the narrative, it does overstay its welcome. The length of this segment would have been justified if the second half of the film had completely depended on this set-up, which is not the case. However, things start moving faster with Parnrekha’s entry, and don’t falter.
